What is normal afterwards
- Small bumps under the skin that can be felt, and sometimes seen, for one to three days.
- Redness and mild swelling on the day.
- Bruising at some injection points.
- Tenderness when you press the area.
Less common risks
- Nodules that last longer than a few days, or appear weeks later. Tell us if you feel one.
- Infection at an injection point.
- Uneven texture if the product is not distributed evenly, which is why massage as instructed matters.
Tell us, or wait, if any of these apply
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- There is active infection or inflamed skin in the area.
- You have had a reaction to a lactic acid based product before.
- You form keloid or hypertrophic scars easily. Tell the doctor.
- You have an active autoimmune condition. The doctor will discuss timing with you.
Before your appointment
- Tell us about blood thinners, fish oil and vitamin E.
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours.
- Come without make up on the area if you can.
Afterwards
- Massage exactly as your doctor shows you. This is the part people skip and it matters.
- No sauna, steam or strenuous exercise for 48 hours.
- Use sunscreen daily.
- Results build over weeks. Expect to judge it at two to three months, not on the day.
Call us straight away if
- A lump that grows, becomes red, hot or painful.
- Fever, or redness spreading away from the area.
- Skin that turns white or dusky, or pain that is severe rather than tender.
